Instructors

Sandi Avila

During a month-long visit, my German grandmother taught me to knit, that was close to 50 years ago. I have been knitting non-stop ever since, I always have something brewing on the needles. I continued my journey in knitting and found my true passion was knitting sweaters. I really enjoy the evolution of a sweater more than any other project.  As an added bonus, I found a husband who encourages my knitting habit; he ventures with me to knit shops when we are traveling, it’s always on the itinerary. After I retired from a stressful career, I decided to share my knitting skills and knowledge and became an instructor teaching a whole host of different styles, techniques and skills.  I am excited to be a part of Fiber, LLC and part of a wonderful community.

Sylvia Smith

Sylvia Smith has been playing with wool and spinning for around 30 years and is currently working her way through the Master Spinner program at Olds College. She lives in northwest Montana with her husband and cat, with one being an enabler of her fiber pursuits while the other is an occasional obstacle.

"Alyse Douglass has been an avid crafter since childhood.  She started knitting, doing macramé, crocheting, beading and much more about 20 years ago. What started as a time passing activity has evolved into a love affair for all things fiber arts.  Alyse is an active member of the local Weaver's and Spinner's Guild for Flathead County and is honored to learn in the presence of the valley's most exceptionally skilled fiber artists.  Alyse works as a nurse by day and is mama to two lovely daughters and wife to a very supportive husband.  Come learn a new craft with Alyse and step into the fascinating world of fiber artistry!"

mary warner

Mary is a self taught knitter since age 13. That was eons ago.  Her fiber journey has continued until this day, having added crochet, spinning yarn, dyeing and felting wool, a little bit of weaving, and raising sheep to have a source of wool for all this.

Fiber arts people are some of the best human beings to occupy this earth and so the journey will continue in order to increase her knowledge and experience and be able to leave this planet a very happy and satisfied woman.
